SOW SOCCER PROGRAM/GRANT
SOW Soccer is a much-needed project –not just in Wyoming, but nationwide. We need to get youth fired up around the idea of youth soccer. SOW Soccer stands for “S”park “O”pportunities “w”ith Soccer. Wyoming Soccer wants to start with planting our seed (“sow”ing soccer) and sparking opportunities within our twenty-two clubs across the state. The goal is to help them build their local programs and think about the partnerships they can create to increase participation (i.e. Boys & Girls Clubs, Parks & Rec, YMCA, etc) within their own communities. It is our hope this program could ultimately serve as a model for other states with underserved populations in building new soccer programs. Wyoming Soccer will showcase success stories, encouraging our clubs to plant their own “seeds” through getting soccer balls into the hands of children who don’t otherwise have the opportunity to play and working with local entities, such as those described above. This program is funded through the US Soccer Innovate to Grow Fund, and we are extremely grateful for their commitment to grassroots growth initiatives in underserved areas such as Wyoming.
