Wyoming Soccer Association has developed a Risk Management Program intended to identify and assess potential risks to our soccer community and to then monitor and minimize the probability and/or impact those risks could pose.
Managing risk includes simple things, like making sure players wear their shin guards to the sensitive duty of background checking coaches, volunteers and staff.

Wyoming Soccer Risk Management Policy
Effective June 15, 2026
At Wyoming Soccer Association, your safety, the safety of our players, and the integrity of our soccer environment are top priorities. Beginning June 15, 2026, Wyoming Soccer will utilize U.S. Soccer’s Safe Soccer Clearance Program as part of our risk management process.
This process helps ensure that adults who work directly with youth players have completed the required safety education, background screening, and compliance steps necessary to create a safer, more consistent environment across Wyoming Soccer.
Who Must Complete Risk Management Requirements?
You must complete the required risk management credentials if you are age 18 or older and have direct contact with youth players through a Wyoming Soccer affiliated program, including but not limited to:
- Coaches
- Assistant coaches
- Team managers
- Club administrators
- Board members
- Program staff
- Volunteers with direct player access
You must be approved before participating in Wyoming Soccer affiliated activities.
Step 1: Join the Wyoming Soccer Group in the U.S. Soccer Learning Center
Before completing your Safe Soccer Clearance requirements, you must connect to Wyoming Soccer through the U.S. Soccer Learning Center via this link: Join the Wyoming Soccer Safe Soccer Group
This will either:
- Take you to your existing U.S. Soccer Learning Center account and add you to the Wyoming Soccer group, or
- Prompt you to create a new U.S. Soccer Learning Center account.
Step 2: Ensure Your Accounts Match
Your U.S. Soccer Learning Center account must match your GotSport account exactly.
Please make sure the following information is the same in both systems:
- First name
- Last name
- Email address
If you are creating a new U.S. Soccer Learning Center account, please enter your information exactly as it appears in GotSport.
Step 3: Complete the Safe Soccer Clearance Program
U.S. Soccer’s Safe Soccer Clearance Program centralizes several important player safety and compliance requirements in one location.
The program includes:
Phase 1
- SafeSport Core Training
- Introduction to Safe and Healthy Playing Environments
- Code of Conduct
- Updated profile information
Phase 2
- Completion of Phase 1
- Positive Soccer Environments
- Soccer for All: Building Safer, Stronger Teams
Phase 3
- Completion of Phase 2
- Nationally recognized background screening
Your background screening is completed through U.S. Soccer’s process and is valid for two years, while certain safety training requirements may need to be updated annually.
Step 4: Log In to GotSport & Sync your Certificates
If you already have a U.S. Soccer Learning Center account and the information does not match your GotSport account exactly, you will need to sync the two accounts.

Annual Expiration & Renewal Requirements
To simplify compliance and ensure consistency across Wyoming Soccer, all risk management credentials are managed on a July 31 expiration cycle.
While individual requirements may have different validity periods through U.S. Soccer, Wyoming Soccer uses a common July 31 review date to help clubs, coaches, volunteers, and administrators maintain current compliance and player safety standards throughout the seasonal year.
Important: Plan to review your risk management status each summer and ensure all required credentials are current before July 31. This annual review helps prevent interruptions to your eligibility to participate in Wyoming Soccer programs and activities.
Why This Matters
This policy is not just about checking a box. It is about protecting players, supporting clubs, and strengthening the soccer environment across Wyoming.
By completing your risk management requirements, you help Wyoming Soccer:
- Promote player safety
- Create consistent standards statewide
- Support coaches, volunteers, and administrators
- Build trust with families
- Provide safer and healthier playing environments
- Align with national safeguarding expectations through U.S. Soccer and US Youth Soccer
Your role matters. Whether you are coaching, managing, volunteering, or serving in leadership, you are part of creating a positive soccer experience for Wyoming players.
Approval Requirement
You must complete and receive approval for all required risk management credentials before participating in any Wyoming Soccer affiliated activity involving youth players.
If your requirements are incomplete, expired, or not properly synced between systems, you may not be eligible to be rostered or participate until they are resolved.
