PLAYERS AND VOLUNTEERS: Player registration totals, both recreational and competitive, average nearly 6,000 per year. That is approximately 5% of Wyoming’s youth aged 5 to 18. WYS also has over 400 registered, volunteer coaches. Volunteers are the backbone of youth soccer; the WYS board, member associations, coaches and other “support staff” consist almost entirely of volunteers.
SOCCER AFFILIATIONS: WYS is part of the US YOUTH Soccer Region IV and is a member of US Youth Soccer, under the direction of the United States Soccer Federation and FIFA (Federation Internationale de Football Association). FIFA is the international governing body for soccer and the USSF has been a FIFA member since 1913. Region IV registers over 620,000 youth players each year and, including Wyoming, is comprised of the 13 most western states.
