REQUESTING PERMISSION TO HOST A TOURNAMENT

No later than one hundred twenty (120) days in advance of the proposed date(s) of the tournament or games for which permission to host is being requested, submit to the WSSA state office for approval:

The original (faxes will not be accepted) completed Application to Host a Tournament or Games (application); incomplete applications will be returned.

Applications that do not show WSSA approved roster sizes for accepted age groups will be returned. For the application to be considered again a letter from the tournament director assuring WSSA that those rules will be followed must also be submitted.

A completed Tournament Hosting Agreement (agreement) with appropriate supporting data, signed by the president or chief    officer of the host organization and by the tournament director;

A copy of the Rules for the Tournament or Games

WSSA requires that tournaments inviting U8 – U12 teams comply with the small-sided game format and the WSSA/US Youth Soccer rules that pertain to such.

A copy of the association’s current certificate of insurance.

Upon receipt of the application, details of the request will be sent to each WSSA affiliated association president; each association has 30 days to provide input. The WSSA state office will review the responses and then either approve the application or forward it to the WSSA board for formal review and vote.

WSSA recognizes that annual tournaments can be better attended than first year tournaments, therefore the right of first refusal is given to any affiliated association that has held an annual tournament on or within two (2) weeks of the same date for three (3) consecutive years.

An association may not publicize, advertise or solicit team participation until the association has received notice that the application has been approved.

WSSA is not required to approve any application submitted fewer than one hundred twenty (120) days in advance. If an application is submitted fewer than one hundred twenty (120) days in advance, WSSA has the right to charge a late submission fee of $500 plus normal per team fees.
